⚘ In a sense / In essence t-shirt ⚘
These shirts were created for In a sense / In essence, my two-month long solo exhibition at Lump Gallery.
My dear friend Gelsey Amelia designed the Meadow Angel on the front of the shirt while working with a "mystery" essence I sent to her.
The essence was one I made of the Accidental Meadow where I used to live, in Garner, NC. I made the essence on a grey, late December morning when the meadow was in its fallow, dormant state. The meadow is both a material place and an emotional resonance: an outer and an inner landscape: a sanctuary for the land itself, to the ecosystem at large, and to all who gather there. And so the meadow, and thus the essence, is the spirit of the land there–the quiet and resounding restitution of a land left to its own rhythms and the material expression of those rhythms into the world.
